In response to this national objectives, 2008 – 2009 will see an investment from the UK Learning and Skills Council of over £11.3 million to increase the participation of young and adult learners, as well as to increase the support and development of these individuals, through the ‘Better Skills, Better Jobs, Better Lives’ initiative. Plans to increase the remit of Train 2 Gain (TtG) to raise the amount of employers engaged with and the types of programmes that learners can access, and an additional £4 billion of European Social Funds and national funds from 2007 – 2013m will help to improve employment opportunities and enable all learners to fulfil their potential.
